You Have the Copper, Now Have the Party

You Have the Copper, Now Have the Party

Over the years you’ve been slowly adding copper elements to the kitchen. First there was the sink and the backsplash. A few years later you picked up a couple of copper pendant lights for over the island and that made you think it was time to invest in some copper cookware. Then there was the copper kettle, the copper vent hood and then the copper stand mixer. Finally, after going on vacation and having the bartender at the resort serve you a Jamaican Mule you returned home and finished off your copper decor with a set of copper mugs from Paykoc. Now what?

Be a Social Lion with your Copper Mugs

Now that you’ve accumulated a formidable number of copper objects for you kitchen it’s time to put them to use both individually and collectively. The best way to do that is to have a party that revolves around your favorite metal. That’s right, a copper party. The secret to a successful theme party like this will be to get your guests involved early and often.

The Invitations

Nothing says “copper party” like copper invitations and you have a choice of either going whole hog and using custom engraved copper plates that can be hand delivered or choosing one of the many copper-toned paper stocks out there. As a practical matter the latter is certainly easier and more affordable. It is after all a casual get together, not a wedding.

The Food

Once a critical mass of attendees has arrived you can gather everyone in the kitchen and engage in some first class food prep in all that glistening copper cookware. You’ll want to cook foods that are amenable to copper which basically means any type of food where you need precise control over the heat. We’ll leave the exact menu up to. If you have copper cutlery don’t forget to use it instead of your standard stainless or silver.

Next it’s time to get that classic copper stand mixer involved. There are any number of things you can make with that classic copper mixer that will ramp up the fun and delectability of your copper dinner party including guacamole, Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes. When it comes to desserts it’s also perfect for making cookie dough and quick breads so you’ve got all the courses covered.

After Dinner Drinks

Once the meal is finished and the dishes have been cleaned in the copper sink it’s time to relax with some after dinner drinks and what better way to celebrate the copper-ness of it all than breaking out your copper Moscow Mule mugs and imbibing in your favorite Moscow Mule variation. If your dinner had a South of the Border air to it with guacamole, shredded chicken and the like serve spicy hot Mexican Mules. If the dinner was more classic American with mashed potatoes and pan fried chicken serve Kentucky Mules or a big favorite around here, the Apple Pie Mule.

Making the Apple Pie Mule is easy as, well, pie. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 oz apple cider
  • 2 oz Apple Pie vodka (believe it or not there is such a spirit commercially available)
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • Apple slices and cinnamon stick

If you’re unable to procure Apple Pie Vodka feel free to use your favorite unflavored brand.

Here’s the recipe:

  • Fill a copper mug with ice.
  • Add the vodka and apple cider and stir lightly to mix.
  • Add the ginger beer.
  • Garnish with 2 apple slices and a cinnamon stick.
  • Enjoy!

Unforgettable Memories

Place some candles around the deck or patio in copper candle holders and while the lazy evening away sipping on the mule variation (apple or otherwise) in your copper mugs. It will be a theme party no one will ever forget. If you’re really into making it a memorable occasion you can order some engraved copper Moscow Mule mugs from Paykoc as party favors with the date and the guest’s name engraved on each one. None of your guests will ever think about copper quite the same way again.
